How Many Calories a Day do you really Eat?





The idea for this post, has come from a Channel 4 program I watched the other evening, called Secret Eaters. I have put the link to the program at the of this post. It was very interesting and clarified several ideas about weight reduction.

One of the participants struggling with reducing her weight said, she loved to cook. With that in mind, she prepared her usual type of meal for the viewers.

Here it is -

First she took 2 jumbo sized hot-dog rolls. Put 2 hot-dogs in each, on top of which she piled chili from out of a tin. Her, homage to cooking came in the form of a small chopped red onion and some chopped red pepper, then came a very generous handful of 'low fat' cheese, to finish it all off, large spoonfuls of sour-cream.

That one meal was more than the amount of calories she needed in a whole day.

The thing was, this lady had convinced herself that she was not eating excessively or unhealthily. Until the opposite was pointed out to her.

This is such an easy thing to do. In the past - I've done this myself.

I suggest writing a daily 'food diary', but you must be honest with this. No skipping that small taste of something when you are preparing your meals. Everything in calories – counts.

But why do we cheat?

I believe, as always, it is the subconscious mind doing it's best to make us feel happy.

We fool ourselves into believing that we are sticking to the regime of our diet, when really, we don't want to. We want to eat and drink without restriction.

The very word 'diet' means to restrict eating. Who wants to do that?

By using self-hypnosis to retrain our subconscious mind to accept what we are doing is not, unpleasant or unobtainable, and can be achieved by adjusting our thought processes, it becomes unnecessary to cheat.

The subconscious mind needs to be told we are having a good time. If your subconscious is being told, I hate not being able to eat doughnuts, then it will crave doughnuts.

Getting in-touch with your subconscious, you can change your desire away from wanting to eat doughnuts, to not wanting to eat doughnuts.

Then the subconscious will happily go along with want you want because the thing about your subconscious mind is – it simply wants to make you happy.

So, if you have not been entirely honest with your calorie counting in your food diary, put that into the past and begin a new page. This time telling yourself that you are going to be completely honest.

Write down everything you really eat throughout the day - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner - and any snacks, even the smallest bite to eat, then add all those calories up writing down the total. 

If you are truly honest with how much you have actually eaten during the day, you can either see where you have been going wrong with your food-intake or you can congratulate yourself on having achieved your goal for that day.

Either way is a plus. Knowing where you are going wrong, shows you how you can improve.

Knowing you are right, gives you the boost to keep doing what you are doing.

So fill in your 'food diary' everyday and honestly!

Saying an affirmation of your achievement for that day, will give you some extra uplift. It will reaffirm to your subconscious mind you wish to succeed in throwing away your unwanted weight – permanently.

When you have added up all the calories you have eaten that day, and have been successful in keeping to your calorie allocation  – then here's an affirmation you may find helpful.

Today and everyday I count my way to slimming success.

If however, you have eaten more than you should have – don't be down about it - just go forward to achieving the following day.

The idea behind Get Slim Stay Slim – Permanently is positiveness. So here is another affirmation to help you achieve tomorrow what you haven't achieved today.

Tomorrow is my day for success and the days following tomorrow.

Like all affirmations, they are best kept short and sweet.

A new way to think about weight loss, and it also demystifies the misconceptions most of us have with regard to hypnosis and hypnotherapy. It's actually a very easy to read practical and very down to earth book. I loved it.

I am especially delighted by this review, not just because it is the first review that Get Slim Stay Slim – Permanently has received but because the reader found within the pages, everything I was trying to get across about permanent weight reduction with the help of Self-Hypnosis.

Being overweight and hating it, is a constant battle for far too many people. The sad thing is, that a large majority of those trying to reduce weight, can do so without much difficulty.

What's holding them back from doing this?

Themselves - and their own private battle between their conscious mind and their subconscious mind.

In other words the battle between, will-power and imagination.
Having once been one of those unfortunates is the reason I wrote Get Slim Stay Slim – Permanently.

It's not a long book, and as the reviewer very kindly says, easy to read. That's just how I wanted the book to be. I want to show the world that diet misery can be a thing of the past and successful and permanent weight control is obtainable for everyone.

An effective weight reduction Self-Hypnosis script.

I originally wrote this script for my Weight Reduction Club. It is a marvelous way to connect with your subconscious mind, the desire to reduce your weight, and to help you find the energy to exercise. It's also a really great, feel good factor, script that at the same time boosts your self-esteem.

Once you have memorized it, say the words to yourself after you have finished your meditation into Self-Hypnosis.

If you continue with your meditation and the '10 steps down' into deeper relaxation technique, (see my previous post on this blog) a great place to repeat the script to yourself would be once you have entered the room and sat in the chair. Afterwards you can either go through the sequence of the 'golden ball' or you can simply count yourself out of Self-Hypnosis. The choice is, as always, yours.

The Script

During this special relaxation, my body’s self-healing processes can work more efficiently and much faster than usual….faster even than during sleep. This process will work more powerfully, re-energizing my entire body and allowing me to enjoy a sense of real inner comfort and calm. This sense of inner comfort becomes an inner strength, so it allows me to be fitter and healthier in very way.

During this special relaxation, my whole body system will work more slowly, more easily, that at any other time….allowing my body’s natural rejuvenating processes to work more effectively than ever. Each fiber,in my body and each tiny cell, is being checked, repaired, and replaced where necessary, in each and every organ of my body....so I can start to feel good about yourself and within myself.

I will develop an inner strength....an inner calm, that becomes deeper and more profound each time I practice Self-Hypnosis and within the channels of my body, my nerves are just resting and relaxing too....resting, relaxing and becoming stronger and steadier with each and every passing day.

And because of this, as each day goes by....I will become steadily more and more confident with my ability to make the right choices in the foods that I eat. Foods that will help me becoming a slimmer person.

I’ll find my concentration improving, too, so that I can really focus my mind on anything I want to. I will find it so easy to think about the things I want to do. I will want to exercise in the most appropriate way for me. I will enjoy the feeling of energy with each new day. The energy that helps me to exercise....in the most appropriate way for me.

And because of this, as each day goes by....I will find myself becoming steadily more and more confident with my ability to make the right choices in the foods that I eat....foods that help me to become a slimmer person. I have the confidence to exercise in the most appropriate way for me. I will enjoy the feeling of energy with each new day. The energy that helps me to exercise....in the most appropriate way for me.

I am discovering of a whole new me and a whole new respect for myself, a whole new sense of pride in my personality, in my whole being. And this respect is going to continue to grow every day....and for the rest of my days.
